Pleased to announce that the Judaic Sacred Music Foundation has commissioned me to compose a new work in honor of the upcoming Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) holiday. The concert will be premiering as part of a High Holy Day program on Sephardic music via Zoom on Sunday, August 29th at 5PM PT/8PM ET. Free registration at the link above, and it will also be available to watch online after the premiere.
The piece, “Three Birkhyot: Vignettes for the New Year” for electric harp, clarinets and percussion is a reflection on some of the blessings used during a traditional Sephardic seder meal for Rosh Hashanah. Thanks to Mathias Kunzli, Zack Lodmer, and Jillian Risigari-Gai Lopez for their beautiful rendition, and to the foundation’s artistic director Steve Rothstein who worked tirelessly to bring the piece and program to life.
